Max Klinger's "Ein Handschuh" (A Glove), 1881:

5. "Triumph"
Technique: Etching, size of actual image: 11 x 23.8 cm.

Well, as if we didn't know! The glove is in command again, like it probably was all the time. The transition from the darkness of the previous picture to the almost blinding - not to say etching - sunlight in this picture with its thin linework is presumably not a transition from despair into confidence or hope. We are blinded by the true nature of the glove - its whiteness, which permeates everything. And it is carried by a slimy companion from the depths, some sort of clam.
